Introduction
Welcome to KCG Farkle! This guide explains how to play the game, understand the interface, and master the art of knowing when to press your luck.
The Objective
The goal is simple: be the first player to score 10,000 points. After one player reaches the target, every other player gets one final turn to try and beat their score.
The Game Screen
The main window contains all the information you need to play.
- Your Score / Computer Score: These labels at the top show the total points each player has "banked" so far.
- Status Message: This large text area in the upper-middle of the screen provides instructions, tells you whose turn it is, and announces game events like a "Farkle" or "Hot Dice".
- The Dice: Six dice are displayed in the center. After a roll, you can click on any scoring die to select it. Selected dice have a blue border.
- Current Turn Score: This shows the total points from the dice you've selected in your current turn. This score is at risk until you bank it!
- Roll Button: Click this to roll any dice that you haven't set aside. If you've just started a turn or have "Hot Dice", it rolls all six.
- Bank Button: Click this to end your turn and add the "Current Turn Score" to your total score.
How to Play a Turn
- Start Your Turn: The status message will tell you it's your turn. Click the Roll button to roll all six dice.
- Select Scoring Dice: After the roll, you must select at least one scoring die or combination. Click on a die to select it. As you select dice, the "Current Turn Score" will update. You cannot proceed unless your selection is a valid score.
- Choose Your Action:
- Press Your Luck: Click the Roll button again. This will roll only the dice you have not selected. Your current turn score is carried over, but you risk losing it all.
- Bank Your Points: Click the Bank button. Your "Current Turn Score" is added to your total score, and your turn ends safely.
Special Events
- Getting on the Board: You cannot bank your points for the first time until your turn score is at least 500. After you've banked 500 or more points once, you can bank any score on future turns.
- Hot Dice: If you manage to score with all six of your dice in a single turn, you get "Hot Dice"! Your turn continues, and you get to roll all six dice again, adding to your current turn score.
- Farkle: If you roll the dice and have no scoring combinations available, that's a Farkle! Your turn ends immediately, and you score 0 for that turn, losing any points you had accumulated.
